In ancient Rome they made lots of different types of art like portrait sculptures, statues, paintings, mosaics, and relief sculptures. The ancient Romans created a substance that we still use today, concrete. They made their concrete out of lava rocks. Concrete was a very strong and heavy material therefore it was very useful. They made a lot of their buildings out of concrete. The front of almost all of the ancient Roman buildings was the main focus, the front had all the details and designs. Something that the Romans made a lot of were, mosaics. They recreated scenes or just designs out of different tiles, that made mosaics. One aspect of Roman's art was how realistic it looked. The Romans made all their paintings and sculptures exactly how it looked even down to the last wrinkle. Another thing that the ancient Romans made were relief sculptures, relief sculptures are like carvings, they're carvings that are raised from the background of the picture. (See picture above)
